How to remove smoke odors - DIY guide.

In this article, I am going to show you how to remove smoke odors from a property.

Think light to moderate cigarette smoke, If you have had a fire or had a chain smoker living in your property for many years you will probably need professional help.

All of the tools and chemicals in this article are available in our store!

First of all, you are going to want to get the carpeting cleaned, and clean and mop hard flooring.

Second, you want to clean the hard surfaces with chemical sponges that are designed to clean smoke residue.

The next step is to wash down the areas with a soot remover/degreaser.

If the chemical sponge and soot remover does not fully remove the smoke stains you will have to prime and paint the walls.

Now once the area has been cleaned you are going to want to drop an ozone machine in the area. Ozone is dangerous for plants animals and people. Make sure that the area is vacant before you use the ozone machine. Follow the instructions on the machine you use, but I typically run the ozone machine for a full day. If you want to learn more about ozone and how it works read our ozone article here.

Now you can fog the area with a deodorizer to take care of any residual odors.

If you don't want to invest in a fogger you can just use smoke bombs.

And strategically place activated charcoal odor absorber bags in the area.
